Maryland Outshines Virginia on ACT Scores
August 26th, 2009 Categories: Crofton Schools
Maryland vs. Virginia. Both claim to have the best schools.
Yet we learned several weeks ago that Maryland Schools Rank #1 in the Nation, according to Newsweek and Education Week magazines, as well as #1 for Advanced Placement performance and participation. But that’s not all!
Now Maryland schools outshine Virginia schools in another category - ACT performance.

How do these results compare with other states? Well, those with the top three highest composite scores were Massachusetts (23.9), New Hampshire (23.5) and Connecticut (23.5).
Three states had 100% participation in the ACT tests: They were Colorado, Kentucky and Michigan. Wyoming (99%), Illinois (97%), Mississippi (93%) and Tennessee (92%) were close behind with strong participation in ACT testing.
Congratulations again to Nancy Grasmick, Maryland’s Superintendent of Schools and to all the teachers and administrators who continually challenge Maryland children and obtain outstanding results.
If you’re reading this because you’re trying to decide where in the D.C.-Baltimore area to live, why not choose a home in Maryland, where the school system repeatedly tops others in the metropolitan area.

I am always very interested in hearing about how schools are evaluated. A client from California told me they rank all their schools on a state level. Therefore it is not a magazine or a test score ranking. Massachusetts has great schools also, but even distinguishing one from another is tough. Parents want it and need it though, so your posting is very helpful for locals and relocation clients as well. Good job.
