The season kicks off tomorrow for Maryland at home in Byrd Stadium at 3 p.m., when the Terps take on William and Mary.
We’re excited this year to have parking passes for Lot 1, where the walk is relatively level to the stadium, after several years in the hinterlands at Comcast or in Regent’s Garage. We’ll miss the huge Loveless family tailgate at Regent’s Garage but, on the other hand, we’re looking forward to something on a smaller scale where we can hang out and actually talk to each other – something we rarely have a chance to do on weekends.
As to the football, it’s got to get better, doesn’t it? Last year’s 2–8 season under new coach Larry Edsall was no fun for fans. But at least the pre-game and half-time band performance is usually entertaining! And you can’t beat the casual sport of people-watching in the stands.
Byrd stadium is located about a half hour from most Crofton neighborhoods. Click on Terps Football Tickets for information on single game and season tickets. Given the lousy football record last year, however, I have no doubt you can buy tickets on game day at Byrd – from the ticket office or from individuals selling their unused single game tickets in the parking lot or in front of the stadium.
