2012 Election Question Impacts Crofton MD
November 5th, 2012 Categories: Crofton News
Crofton MD will feel the impact of the 2012 election, far beyond the choice of President. In particular, Question 5 confirms the division of Crofton into four different Congressional Districts. It reads as follows:
Establishes the boundaries for the State’s eight United States Congressional Districts based on recent census figures, as required by the United States Constitution.
Since the wording of this Referendum Petition seems to make so much sense, it’s likely this will pass statewide. If no one else votes against it, however, I do think that Crofton residents should send our State Legislature a message that we noticed their deliberate choice to neutralize the political voice of our community by dividing us into four districts, and we don’t like it.
It’s entirely possible that you are in a different Congressional District than you were 2 years ago, so be sure to check out the candidates in advance.
Please take the time to review this sample ballot prior to voting tomorrow, because there are many other questions that impact us as Marylanders and others that are specific to Anne Arundel County. Voting lines will move very slowly in Crofton if residents wait until we’re in the voting booth to read them and make a decision.
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
