Davidsonville, Maryland, is not your typical suburbia, in spite of it’s proximity to Baltimore, Annapolis and Washington, D.C. It’s a community with agricultural roots that maintains its character with expansive views of rolling hills and fields dotted with occasional homes and neighborhoods. The only major retail establishment is Homestead Gardens, a world-class plant nursery and growing center; yet residents have many options for shopping and dining in nearby Annapolis, Bowie, Crofton, and Edgewater – less than 15 minutes away.
Davidsonville Park, located on Patuxent River Road about a mile from this home, offers lighted fields for organized sports, picnic areas, pavilion, paved trail for runners and walkers, playground, concessions stands, restrooms, and access to the Patuxent River for fishing or launching your car-top boat.
Riverwood Park may be the best kept secret in Anne Arundel County. It’s located within the Patuxent Manor subdivision, off Patuxent Manor Road at the end of Morgan Road. With its playground, tennis courts, basketball court, biking trail, and walking/jogging path, it’s a popular destination for many residents of the Patuxent Manor neighborhood.
Neighborhood children attend Davidsonville Elementary,Central Middle, and South River High. These schools are among the best of the best in a state where public education received its fourth straight number one ranking this year from Education Week, College Board and Newsweek. In fact, South River H.S., has achieved a Maryland.Blue Ribbon School designation!
“Upscale” would describe most of the neighborhoods and homes in Davidsonville, where the lot size for most homes is 2-10 acres and prices often approach or exceed a million dollars. There’s just one exception to this in the 21035 zip code:
Patuxent Manor is a community of about 275 homes where lot sizes tend to be 1/3 – 1/2 acre and homes sell for less than $300,000. It’s a stable neighborhood with little turnover, so you’ll feel like you’ve just won the lottery if you’re the lucky buyer of this new listing:
1529 Manor View Road
This 3 bedroom home on 1/3 acre is priced at $364,900. Arched doorways in the main living area add architectural interest and custom plantation shutters dress the bow window. There are hardwood floors in the living room, dining room, hallway, and small bedroom… and the look is continued to other areas with laminate flooring. Walls throughout the main level have been freshly painted in neutral colors, and there are many recent updates, including the roof, furnace, water softener, washer, dryer, main electric box, main level electric outlets, and recessed lights. In addition to the 2-car garage with a large extension in the back, there is a garage-size storage shed in the back yard – a contractor’s dream! Since this outbuilding has electricity, the possibilities for its use are endless.
Patuxent Manor is located on Central Avenue (Rt. 214), just inside Anne Arundel County and a straight shot to I-495 (The D.C. Beltway). This is the time of year when military personnel are relocating, so let me mention that It’s only about 15 minutes to Andrews AFB and the U.S. Naval Academy, and 30 minutes to Fort Meade/NSA.
For more information or an appointment to see this home, call me at 301-346-2923.

FREE TO MILITARY FAMILIES!
Tuesday, July 3, 1–3 p.m.
This is a very special invitation to military families for a very special event to honor our Nation’s independence at a very special place: Tudor Place in Georgetown, D.C.
George Washington loved ice cream, and the founders of Tudor Place loved and revered George Washington, their forebear. So it’s fitting to bring American history and this summertime favorite together to celebrate our nation’s birthday at a family event!
We’ll start with a special, family-friendly mansion tour focusing on its many George and Martha Washington connections.
Then, make your own ice cream sundaes in the garden, and enjoy children’s games and crafts.
All participants will receive a special copy of a rare, personal letter from Washington belonging to the Tudor Place archives. It is one of just three such notes in existence, it is his affectionate note to his wife as he took up command of the Continental Army.
Tickets: Child: $10; Adult: $5; Military: FREE

Crofton area shopping and dining options expand as progress continues at Waugh Chapel Town Center – referred to by many local residents as Waugh Chapel South. Eight businesses are now open in the first phase of this new 80–acre retail, office, and residential complex that has already changed the flow of traffic along Route 3, north of Crofton. Four more businesses appear nearly finished and due to open soon, and several more will be open by the holiday season.
Please support Petco, Vision Works, Panera Bread, S-Below, Sleepy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Massage Envy and the anchor store, Target. Coal Fire, PNC Bank, Sniip-Its and Sports Clips look like they’re ready to open any day.
Some of them and others, such as Wegman’s, are hiring. If you’re lookidng for a job in the Crofton area, it’s likely there’s an opportunity waiting for you at Waugh Chapel South.

Why get a pre-approved loan before home-shopping in Crofton?
The benefits of having a pre-approved home loan are without question. It is good for the buyers, the sellers and the agents. It saves time and money and also removes any uncertainty whether the buyer is qualified.
The direct benefits include:
- Amount the buyer can borrow decreases as interest rates rise
- Looking at “Right” homes – price, size, amenities, location
- Find the best loan – rate, term, type
- Uncover credit issues early – time to cure possible problems
- Bargaining power – price, terms, & timing
- Close quicker – verifications have been made
There a big difference between sitting down with a licensed mortgage professional compared and rely on a mortgage calculator found on some random website. The cost of being pre-approved is a bargain – in fact, FREE, except for the cost of a credit report.
Contact me if you’d like the contact information of a local lender (or two or three) used by some of my clients in the past.
P.S. Some Crofton home sellers and their agents won’t even consider your offer on their home unless it’s accompanied by a pre-approval letter.
