Book about Crofton Goes on Sale August 17

Images of America - CroftonJanice Booth worked tirelessly for months on her book about our community, and it will finally hit the shelves on Monday.  Images of America – Crofton will be available at local bookstores and even Amazon.com.  In fact, you can pre-order now on Amazon.

Crofton residents will find some of the same photos in her book which you’ve seen on my blog and website because Janice approached me several months ago for authorization to include them.

As we talked, it occurred to me that we might have a few photos in the Long & Foster office scrapbook which were taken at Crofton events 20–30 years ago – so you might see some of those in the book, as well.   Her photos have come from a wide variety of sources, and date back to the community’s earliest days.  It took quite a lot of research on her part to compile this photographic history of our community.  Thank you, Janice, for doing this so we don’t have to!

As the Editorial Review says on Amazon.com, “While historians record the facts, artists and cameras capture the small moments as well as the grand events. Those moments, large and small, are what readers will find between these covers.”

I’m really excited to see this latest release of the Images of America Series, published by Arcadia Publishing.  Janice mentioned, as we were looking through all the photos, that this is the first “modern” subdivision community the publisher has chosen.  Earlier Maryland books in the Images of America Series include Ocean City (2 volumes), Maryland’s Amusement Parks, Chincoteague and Assateague Islands, and Fells Point.

You can meet the author and have your book autographed at Crofton Fine Art & Framing next weekend while enjoying some light refreshments.

Friday, August 21 – 5–7 p.m.
Saturday, August 22 – 1–3 p.m.
Sunday, August 23 – 12–2 p.m.

Wouldn’t this be a great holiday gift for your children who grew up in Crofton, or former neighbors who moved away – especially if it’s signed by the author.  Or how about treating yourself to this 128–page pictorial about your own community?

I’ll take several, please!
