Homes For Sale

Real Estate Info

The future of Lake Louise is very important to me as both a Crofton resident and REALTOR – and to all of us who own a home in the community.

The CURB APPEAL of Crofton’s entrance has steadily deteriorated over the years, and Lake Louise – once the jewel of our community’s front yard – has not been spared the effects of aging.  This impacts the desirability of “Old Crofton” in the eyes of prospective home buyers, and it can’t help but negatively impact our property values more and more over time.

Angry2The Crofton Civic Association has FINALLY decided to address this issue, and the future of Lake Louise was the focus of their annual meeting on Monday night at Crofton Elementary School.  Due to a business appointment that ran long on Monday night, I was unable to attend the meeting, but some of my colleagues at Long & Foster did.

Today’s article in The Crofton Crier echoes what they told me about the meeting, and I urge you to read it.  Here’s a link to view it online: Crofton Residents Debate Future of Lake Louise.

Lake Louise does need attention – but the entire “front yard” area does, as well.  Years ago, the field to the right of Crawford Boulevard was maintained as a beautiful lawn.  The grassy area around Lake Louise was very well-maintained.  There were often seasonal flowers in bloom at the Route 3 entrances into Crofton.

A good first step to improving the curb appeal of Crofton might be to shift priorities in the budget a bit, with more going toward improving and maintaining the entrance of our community.  In the meantime, the future of Lake Louise can be explored and decided.

You don’t get a second chance to make a good first impression, and Crofton’s front gate sets the expectations for our entire community.  The Crofton Civic Association needs to reach out to community groups for input, and then take their top three proposals to residents for discussion.  The final decision should probably be made through an official voting process, and the Board should be bound by that vote.

That’s just my opinion…  If you have an opinion on this topic, your comment on this post is welcome.
