Crofton Cub Scouts Selling Popcorn

Popcorn - istockphoto.comCub Scout Pack 731 will be selling popcorn at Giant next weekend, both Saturday (9–3) and Sunday (9–1).  Be sure to stop by and support our local cub scouts by stocking up on enough popcorn to get your family through the winter.

The annual popcorn sale raises money for the Pack’s activities (winter camping, pinewood derby, raingutter regatta, etc.), minimizing the costs of these programs for scouts and their families.

The popcorn sale also teaches valuable life lessons to the kids, such as goal-setting and developing/implementing a plan.  The activity helps individuals grow in confidence and promotes teamwork within the pack.

If you want to support the scouts but don’t really want to buy any popcorn, you can send popcorn to U.S. troops overseas.  There’s a space on the order form for selecting this option.  Over the past three years, scouts have raised over $25 million for this effort –  that’s 1300 tons of popcorn, including 250,000 tins and 7 million packets of microwave popcorn.

Either way, whether you buy it for yourself and your family or send it overseas to U.S. troops, this is a good cause.  Be sure to say “yes” when a cub scout knocks on your door or approaches you in front of Giant and asks if you’d like to buy some popcorn!
