Crofton Mountain Climber Attempts Denali

Art Huseonica is a man of many talents…

He’s a former President of the Greater Crofton Council, former co-chair of the Crofton Regional Community Center Committee, a faculty member at UMUC, and a mountain climber whose adventures have been reported in this blog and elsewhere.

Art left Crofton earlier this month to join his group, the Denali Ice-Agers, on May 11 and then headed to Talkeetna on the 13th.  In the meantime, we learned of the Summit Attempt and Scary Situation faced by another team –  it will give you an idea of the potential risks faced by those who dare to take on this mountain.

On May 18, Art reported they had to take cover at 10,000 ft. because of weather conditions, but they are going to make it to 11,200 ft. (Camp 2). The temperatures are @ zero degrees but his wife, Karen, said he love loves this!  Today’s report indicates the weather is too bad to proceed to Camp 3, at 14,000 ft.
