Meet the Artists

Crofton Resident Rosanne Colvard received her Master of Art degree from the University of Maryland after completing undergraudate study at Stetson University and Bowie State College.  She pursued printmaking with Alan Kaneshiro at the National Collection of Fine Arts [now the National Portrait Gallery] and was a founding member of the Washington Women’s Printmaking Group.

In recent years she has focused on additional printmaking studies with Chris Mona at Anne Arundel Community College. Further independent work has been done at the Pyramid Gallery in Silver Spring.  She taught art at Annapolis Senior High School from 1974-1981 and assisted in developing the graphics curriculum for Anne Arundel County in the 1970s as well as teaching part-time at Anne Arundel Community College.

Rosanne has exhibited at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Bowie State College, Anne Arundel Community College, Barnes and Noble, Annapolis Senior Center, and Maryland Federation of Art. She is an active member of the Maryland Federation of Art and belongs to the Western Shore Artist Group.

“I have always loved the act of creating and am inspired by nature and color as well as textures. The complexities of printmaking with all the various techniques intrigues me and my love for color is further demonstrated in my paintings, which are usually large and contemplative. Photography is yet another interest, especially abstract angles and landscapes.”

David Diaz works in oil and watercolor and currently lives in Annapolis, Md.  He received formal training in the public schools of Western Maryland and Frostburg State University; as well as University of Maryland, Towson and Catholic University.

David taught art for 32 years in Maryland, in both Allegany and Anne Arundel County, and has worked with students from elementary through middle school, as well as adult education and private lessons.

David is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters with a focus on regional subjects.

A Maryland native, Gail Higgenbotham studied art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Anne Arundel Community College and with several talented, local artists. An accredited member of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters and Oil Pastel Society, she also holds memberships with the Maryland Federation of Art, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, and Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters.

Her work can be viewed at the Aurora Gallery on Maryland Avenue in Annapolis, MD and the River Gallery on Main Street in Galesville, MD.   She has won awards in various local juried exhibits and taken first place two years (2006 and 2007) in an Oil Pastel exhibit in Maine
